Biography

Richard J. Rosen is a senior economist and economic advisor in the economic research department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. In that position, Rosen conducts research on issues relating to financial intermediation, bank regulation, the future of banking and mergers.

Rosen's research is published in numerous leading academic journals. Published articles of his research have appeared in the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, the Journal of Business, the Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking and the Rand Journal.

Prior to coming to the Chicago Fed, he taught in the finance departments at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and the school of business at Georgetown University. He has also worked at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.

Rosen received a B.A. in mathematics from Swarthmore College and a Ph.D. in economics from Princeton University.
