Come to the Chicago Fed Money Museum!

  • View millions of dollars in various denominations
  • Learn to detect counterfeits
  • See how the Federal Reserve System impacts your life

Located at 230 South LaSalle Street, the Bank's Money Museum is free and open to the public year-round from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, except on Bank holidays.

Guided Tours

Guided tours lasting roughly 45 minutes are available at 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, or by appointment. You can also visit the Money Museum on your own at any time during open hours.

Guided tours include:

  • A short video about the operations of the Chicago Fed, the Federal Reserve System and monetary policy
  • A question-and-answer session following the video
  • A walk through the Money Museum with a knowledgeable tour guide

If you have a group of 15-39 people, you may reserve a guided tour between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., daily. Advance reservations are required, and we are often booked several weeks in advance.

For groups larger than 39 people, divide your group and plan on 45-minute sessions for each group.

Please Keep in Mind:

  • All visitors must show a photo ID before entering the Money Museum
  • No food or drink is allowed
  • School tours require one adult for every ten students age 17 or younger
  • There are times when the Money Museum may be closed for security reasons
