Young Workers Name the Federal Reserve Bank an Ideal Employer

The Wall Street Journal in 2011 reported survey results that show young working professionals rated the Federal Reserve System the 71st best place to work from a list of more than 200 firms., placing it among other influential organizations including Google, Apple and Facebook.

The survey asked 6,700 young professionals under the age of 40 and with one to eight years of work experience to choose their ideal employers from the list. The Federal Reserve System’s ranking exceeded competitors such as Kraft, Hilton Hotels, and Accenture.

Chicago Fed Senior Recruiter Meredith Morales believes job applicants want to work for a strong prestigious organization and have an ability to make an impact.

“Our mission to serve the public and the high caliber of our employees, our engaging and collaborative culture, and our brand recognition all make us a world-class organization,” she says.

The Chicago Fed typically receives more than 150 applications per job posting, and our recruiters find their on-campus presentations are attended by an average of 20 to 60 students interested in learning about our employment opportunities.

“Clearly jobs at the Chicago Fed are in high demand,” says Morales. “Often candidates are interested in the brand impact of having the Fed on their resume. It’s also a unique opportunity to work with a very smart group of people.”
