Gordon Werkema is First Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and Product Director of the Federal Reserve System's National Customer Relations and Support Office. As COO, he oversees the financial management, information technology services, payments, legal, human resources and corporate development functions of the Federal Reserve’s Seventh District. As a Federal Reserve System Product Director, he oversees electronic access product development and services, customer support, and national sales and marketing activities for the Federal Reserve Banks. Werkema serves on various Federal Reserve System committees and governing councils related to financial services, information technology, risk management, and leadership development.
Previously, Werkema served as Executive Vice President at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. He has held various other senior management positions throughout the Federal Reserve System, including a position as the Federal Reserve’s liaison to the United States Treasury on Payment and Cash Management issues.
Werkema currently serves on the Boards of the Seattle Pacific Foundation and Chicago United; and is also a member of the Economic Club of Chicago and the Bankers' Club of Chicago. He holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science and Economics from Seattle Pacific University and a Master’s Degree with honors from The Johns Hopkins University, Carey School of Business.
