Midwest Manufacturing Output Falls in April
The Chicago Fed Midwest Manufacturing Index (CFMMI) fell 0.8% in April, to a seasonally
adjusted level of 98.1 (1997=100). Revised data show the index declined 0.4% to 98.9
in March. The Federal Reserve Board’s industrial production index for manufacturing
(IPMFG) was down 0.6% in April. April output in the region was 3.5% lower than a year
earlier, while output in the nation was 0.9% below year-ago levels.
