Automotive Industry Outlook: Understanding the Impact on Workers and Communities (Special Issue)

In this Chicago Fed Letter, the authors focus on the opening panel from the recent conference, Automotive Communities and Work Force Adjustment, which was hosted by the Chicago Fed's Detroit Branch. They summarize the panel's presentations on the challenging current conditions for the broader economy, the automotive industry and the industry’s workforce and communities. An upcoming Chicago Fed Letter will discuss the rest of the conference, including participants' evaluations of federal and state workforce programs and initiatives.
