Assessing global auto trends

In an attempt to achieve an integrated analysis for the auto industry, this article analyzes each major and emerging market for vehicles first individually and then in aggregate. The purpose of this systematic approach is to reach some comprehensive insights and conclusions into the prospects for the U.S. nameplates in a marketplace where they must compete with foreign nameplates not only in their own backyard but also in markets throughout the world, most of which are less than hospitable. This article will also emphasize how these global developments impact auto producers in the Midwest, a region where the domestic industry is still highly concentrated.
