Ninth Annual International Banking Conference

Cross-Border Banking: Regulatory Challenges
Cosponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and the World Bank
The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and The World Bank hosted a conference on "Cross-Border Banking: Regulatory Challenges." The conference was held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago beginning the morning of Thursday, October 6, and ending with dinner on Friday, October 7, 2005.
This was the ninth in a series of international banking conferences focusing on important current issues in global economics and finance sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. These conferences feature internationally recognized speakers from different countries and are of interest to an international audience of financial industry practitioners, regulators, policymakers, and academics. This year's conference addressed the current landscape of cross-border bank activity, the resulting competitive implications, emerging challenges for prudential regulation (for example, host-home country issues), safety net concerns, failure resolution issues, and the future evolution of international banking.
