Economic Development Forum

The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and Clean Slate Milwaukee, Inc., hosted an economic development forum on “Eliminating Barriers to Employment in Wisconsin’s Most Distressed Communities – Expungement.” Clean Slate Milwaukee is a "second chance" re-entry organization that specializes in expungement of non-violent criminal records as an effort to promote equal opportunity to employment, housing, and higher education for men and women. The removal of conviction history questions from job applications is gaining momentum nationally for criminal justice reform and fair-hiring practices. Consensus on the issue is building on both sides of the political aisle and throughout the business community.

The forum explored this issue with an array of noteworthy speakers and panelists that includes perspectives from industry professionals, government and policy experts.
