Held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm ET/11:00 am to 12:00 pm CT, this event featured a discussion exploring the benefits and challenges of comprehensive economic development involving multiple agencies from across different sectors.

The webinar provided best practices on how organizations were able to communicate and collaborate in different communities within the Seventh Federal Reserve District and achieve successes across different development spheres—not limited to targeted initiatives. It examined economic development from a community's perspective, focusing on but not limited to the following:

  • How to identify the important players
  • How to identify and access the needed resources
  • How to establish and maintain lines of communication with community stakeholders
  • How to coordinate between different agencies

The webinar was a precursor to a program scheduled for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago's Detroit Branch on October 12, 2023. That program, held in person, includes additional examples and discussion of comprehensive, collaborative economic development, as well as updates on Detroit-area commercial and residential real estate markets, respectively. The webinar and in-person program are the first of an annual series of events at the Detroit Branch focusing on timely topics impacting Detroit and the surrounding area.
