In 1981, bank holding companies in
Illinois were granted the legal authority to operate
more than one full-service banking office
through the acquisition of additional banks.
Thus, although a single bank is limited to one
full-service office, a bank holding company
(BHC) could establish a network of such offices
in specific regions in the state.
